It was approaching fast. That day. The cursed day every overprotective and loving father hated. The day that their beloved daughter goes off to college. Mikasa, your eldest daughter was in her room packing up her clothes and books. She had been at it for the passed week with the help of her brothers and sister and you. Levi didn't even bother to help his little girl. That's right.  His little girl. He and Mikasa hadn't been on the best of terms since she graduated. They would argue at dinner over simple things, Mikasa would slam her door in her father's face, Levi would keep her at home from Eren, Mikasa insulted his height and called him by his first name, and Levi treated her exactly how he saw her... like a little girl. After a week of that, the silent treatment and death glares plagued you and the rest of your children making the Ackerman household...deathly quiet....for once. You were downstairs sitting on the kitchen counter and sneaking little spoonfuls of chocolate while watching your husband cook dinner. 

"Levi...why don't you just talk to her." You asked trying to swallow the thick chocolate down. 

"Tch...no. And stay your ass out of the dessert." 

"You know this is the last night she'll be spending at home until Thanksgiving comes around." 

"So. Your point is"?  


You knew that the thought of your baby going off to college was the thing that tore Levi up inside. He hated the thought. And he couldn't get over the fact that 18 years flew by in such little time. He would go over all of Mikki's baby pictures and watch home videos of her. Her ballet recitals, karate tournaments, all of her orchestra recitals, dance competitions, and her volleyball tournaments. Each one leaving a message that  made any father's heart swell with happiness. A simple 'I love you daddy'. He seldom hears it from her now. He only hears it from his sweet Christa ,a̶n̶d̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶d̶u̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶s̶p̶e̶c̶i̶a̶l̶ ̶n̶i̶g̶h̶t̶s̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶. But that was different. Mikasa was his oldest. His first baby. The baby that made him laugh when she gave him her newborn smile, showing her two rows of gums. The baby that watched intently as her daddy changed the tire on the car. The baby that helped him out with her other siblings while her mama was at work. Levi loved all of his children deeply. Everyone saw that. The fact that they gave him a few strands of grey was worth it. Each strand holding stress but a loving memory. There was no way in hell Levi would depart with his daughter. He wouldn't last a week of her being there. He'd already be there at her dorm waiting for her to come back home with him and the rest of your lovely brood. He'd wait for her. To pick her up, like he did when she was little. To swing her around and hear her squeal. 

You sighed and wrapped your arms around him. 

"Baby...I know you can't handle this. But this is hurting her. And it's hurting you. She needs her daddy there. She loves you Levi. Now she needs to hear it." And with that you let go and walked out of the kitchen N̶o̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶f̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶s̶t̶i̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶f̶i̶n̶g̶e̶r̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶o̶w̶l̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶c̶h̶o̶c̶o̶l̶a̶t̶e̶. Contemplating your words, Levi decided that he'd break the silence by telling his daughter how he felt. He only hoped that she would understand.

After dinner, Mikasa had already made plans to spend her last with her friends. Erwin and Hanji already called you to let you know that their daughters, Sasha and Annie were coming to pick her up. Eren waited outside with her until you spotted Annie's Chevy down the street. 

"Okay sweetie, be safe. And no reckless driving, no drinking and please wear your seatbelt. Call your father and I when you get to the lake." 

"Okay, okay ,okay. I'll see you tomorrow mom. Love you." And with that she kissed your cheek and hopped in the back seat. 

"JAEGER"! Levi yelled from the front door. 

"Y-Yes Sir"! 

"....You better keep watch over my daughter." 

"Yes sir! See ya later Mrs.Ackerman." Eren waved with a sweet smile. You sighed and watched them drive off. 


"I can't believe you let her go." 

"Oh god...Levi, she's 18. This is her last night." 

"I don't give a damn how old she is. She was supposed to spend it with us. Not her friends." 

"Levi, she spent every second of the day with us. Hell, the last 18 years to be exact. I think she needs a night away from her family and spend it with friends. Besides, there's no telling when she'll see Annie and Sasha again. Let her have fun." You by him and placed a kiss on his cheek as you went into the family room to watch a movie with your other children. Levi sighed and closed the door. You were right....there's no way he was gonna tell you that but it was true. Maybe she did need this night away. 

"No the hell she doesn't. She'll be away all four fucking years. A night away my ass." He murmured under his breath. 

"UGH!! Levi give it up"! You yelled. The fact that you heard him startled him a little.

Tiptoeing through the hallway to Mikasa's room, Levi made sure that everything was in order. 

"Sleeping brats, snoring wife... perfect." He whispered to himself. He stepped into Mikasa's room while avoiding that loud ass creaky floorboard that separated her room from the hallway. Boxes were stacked neatly in the corners of her room. A couple of packing peanuts were on the floor, but all in all it was spotless. Levi stood in her doorway and stared into the room. Memories washed over him as he smiled lightly. He remembered when you were pregnant with her.  You and Levi were deciding which color you were going to use to paint her room. You hated pink and you still do to this very day. 


"I like this color better. Pink is so...so ...so fucking ugly." You said bluntly.  Levi watched you as you waddled to the other side of the room and tried out a different paint. Smirking, Levi placed his palms flat on the paint.You felt two large hands grab your butt as you yelped. 

"No cursing while carrying the baby." He said bluntly. You pouted and look  at his hands. His palms were covered in a light green apple paint. 

"That's it! We'll paint her room that color...and I know you didn't just ruin my favorite shorts." 

"At least people will know that your mine." He smirked as you cracked a smile. He hugged you from behind and rubbed your belly. 

"Hey brat, mommy hates pink so we're painting your room a light green apple."  

You managed to plant a kiss on his nose while he talked. 

"I love you." 

"I love you too." He said back. He felt a kick and smiled lightly. 

"And I love you too brat." 

  

He walked in to the room and sat on her bed picking up one of her teddy bears in the process.  He stared at the bear and brushed a thumb over it's ear.

"Daddy"!  

Levi rushed to his daughter's room the moment she called him. Not even taking his time to fully kick the bedsheets off. 

"What is it baby!? What's wrong"!? 

"It's dark and I can't see...and there's a monster under my bed."  She sniffled. Levi sighed heavily as he walked into his daughter's room. He turned on her closet light realizing that her night light had blown out. 

"There. That solves our light problem. Now, Mikki, how many times have I told you. There are no-" A loud growl from under her bed interrupted him and made little Mikasa pull her covers over her head. 

"What the hell"? 

"No cursing daddy." 

"Tch." 

Levi peeked under the bed and was met with big brown eyes. 

"Jojo, you furball, get from under there." Levi said as the little yorkie made it's way from under the bed. 

"Mikki, this is your monster." He said holding the tiny pooch up with one hand. Taking a quick peek over the covers she released a sigh of relief.

"Jojo," she whined," You scared me. Can he sleep with me tonight daddy? Pleeeeeaaaaaassssseee"? How could anyone say no to three year old with  big sparkly grey eyes and two missing teeth. 

"Just for tonight. And here," He bent over and picked up the teddy bear that Jojo was currently biting," you dropped this." 

"Thank you daddy. I love you." 

"I love you too, goodnight baby girl."  





Levi sat the teddy bear down in it's original place . He sighed and stood up, taking in another look at his daughter's room. 

"Don't go." He whispered. He was walking out of the room until he stubbed his toe on a stray box. It was a good thing there was nothing heavy in it but something colorful wrapped in plastic caught his eye. 

"What's this." He bent over and reached in the box. Now, one could've easily taken their ass back to bed but not Levi. Picking up the colored plastic thingy , Levi's eyes widened in anger and astonishment.  

"Dad!? What the hell are you doing in my room"!?  A slightly angered voice asked behind him. 


"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU DOING WITH CONDOMS"!!! He yelled waving the condoms in the air before throwing them down on the floor.

"OH MY GOD!! YOU WENT THROUGH MY STUFF"!!?? 

"YOU DAMNED RIGHT I DID! NOW ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTION"! He yelled at the top of his lungs. 


"What the hell is going on." You asked  in a sleepy voice. 

"What are those." You asked again with your eyes widening. 


"WHAT DO YOU THINK [NAME]"!?
  
"Oh Mikki no. Baby....I hoped you'd at least wait til marriage." 


"JAEGER!!! WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT LITTLE FUCKER"!?  His voice held a dangerous tone to it. And to be honest... it scared the shit out of you and Mikasa. 


"B-b-babe, please calm down. You'll wake the kids up."  
 
"I DON'T GIVE A FUCK!! THE HELL WOULD I CALM DOWN FOR AND MY DAUGHTER IS FUCKING AROUND"!? 

"WHY THE HELL WERE YOU IN MY ROOM IN THE FIRST PLACE"!?  

" YOUR ROOM!? THIS IS ME AND YOUR MOTHER'S ROOM MISS! YOU JUST TAKE UP THE SPACE"!  

"UGH!! YOU'RE SO ANNOYING"! 

"YOU'RE SO DISRESPECTFUL! I DON'T GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT YOU BEING GROWN! THE FACT IS THAT YOUR IN MY HOUSE AND I'D BE DAMNED IF A CHILD OF MINE HAD THE AUDACITY TO FUCK SOMEONE IN IT"!! 

You on the other hand were terrified. You'd never seen your husband this angry, nor your daughter who flashed the same dangerous glint of anger. The two Ackermans argued back and forth sending insults in every way. Your precious sets of twins opened their bedroom doors, not daring to come out of them. Armin peeked out of his room, Christa out of hers, and gruesome twosome Jean and Marco out of theirs. 


"Go back to bed babies." You whispered calmly as each silently shut their doors. Just as you said that, the inevitable happened. Something no man would ever want to hear come from out of their childs mouths. 

"I hate you." 

Levi's face fell as those eight letters pierced his heart. The angry furrow of his eyebrows fell back into its original form, his eyes went from screaming bloody murder back to the stoic glance, and he closed his mouth. He stared at his daughter in pain but she didn't look back at him. Your hands covered you mouth as soon as Mikasa said that. Slowly, Levi brushed passed you and Mikasa and back to the room that you and him shared. Hearing the door shut lightly, you glanced back at Mikasa. She had done what no other human being could do in the world...she broke her father. You instantly saw the pain in his face. He blinked fast to beat the growing tears that had flooded his eyes not knowing that you caught it. Mikasa was crying too. She sniffled as she rushed passed you and down the stairs. You followed after her, hot on her trail.  

"Mikasa Ackerman! You stop right now"! You ordered as your daughter came to a halt. 

"What the hell possessed you to say such a thing to your father"!? 

"I-I m-mom...I can't take this anymore! He treats me like I'm still a child, h-he nags and complains about the clothes I wear, the people I talk to. He won't let me breathe"! 

"Have you once stopped to think about why he was doing all those things"? 

Mikasa stared down at the floor letting a few tears crash against it. 

"Baby, your father is just like anyone else's. He can't deal with the fact that you're growing up.The message was very clear. And I'm almost certain that Annie and Sasha complained about how their dad was babying them. Am I right"? 

"...Yes."  

"You know, you really hurt your dad tonight. As if sending you off to college isn't putting him in enough pain. You better find a way to apologize to your father before it's too late." You said turning to go back upstairs. 

"Y-you're letting me go"?  

"You're a grown woman now. You make your own decisions. Make sure you lock my door if you choose to leave." Leaving your daughter downstairs you went to comfort your other baby.

"Levi? Levi baby." You sat down on the edge of the bed next to the man who held his head in his hands. He stared at the floor letting a few tears streak his face. He turned his gaze towards you. 

"Where the hell did I go wrong with her"? 

"Levi stop. Stop blaming yourself. You did nothing wrong. You know that she didn't mean it." 

"She sounded pretty damned serious to me." 

"Levi...it was all a matter of you smothering her." 

"I did not smother her. I did everything that brat asked me to do, I gave her everything she wanted. Hell I always fufilled her Christmas wish list despite the fact that it's MY birthday." 

You chuckled at your husband as he laid you down and lied on your breasts. 

"Yeah, you gave her everything. You gave her everything BUT what she wanted most." 

"Like what"? 

"Your acceptance." 

"Of what !? I accepted the fact that she settled for that piece of shit boyfriend of hers." 

"No you didn't and you never will. But anyway, you haven't given her your acceptance of her growing up. Baby, she's 18 not 8 months. You're being the daddy that you were when she was little. As she matures, she expects your view of her growth to mature as well." 

Levi stared at you before he placed a kiss on your lips. 

"You need to stop watching Dr.Phil." He said bluntly, making you giggle.

That dreaded morning rolled around. Levi was driving , the kids were in the back all enjoying their big sisters presence while it lasted. Eren sat farther in the back of the SUV, with a black eye and busted lip adorning his face. He and Mikasa got accepted into the same University, which to Levi, was the worst case scenario. Especially after finding out that the poor boy did 'the do'  with his daughter. Levi still looked hurt. You placed a hand on his and squeezed it gently.  It wasn't long before the sad trip ended as Levi pulled up in front of the University.

"St. Sina University...I can't believe I'm here.' You overheard Mikasa say. You felt your heart pang with sadness. 

"18 years really did fly by." You murmured to your husband as he squeezed and kissed your hand. The full car emptied out and began to help Mikasa get situated. Eren's lovely parents were already there and began helping their son get situated in the boys dormitory. A good two hours passed and you all managed to get all of Mikasa's things in her dorm room. It was time for all the families to leave anyway. You noticed how Levi and Mikasa didn't utter a word to each other, step in each other's way,or even take the chance to notice each other's existence. It was killing you and giving you a very bad headache. 

"Daddy."  Mikasa whispered as she opened a box.  Levi's eyes widened as soon as she said that word.She pulled out her teddy bear as Levi turned to face her. 

"I-I....I'm sorry." She hugged the teddy bear tight as she began to sob.

"I didn't mean all any that. I don't hate you and you're not a snappy midget with OCD , and you're not shorter than a chihuahua." She sobbed. Jean being the immature 8 year old giggled silently when he heard 'shorter than a chihuahua' in the corner of the room before Christa pinched his shoulder. 


"I'm sorry daddy."

You looked to Levi who had his head down. His bangs were covering his eyes. 

"I love you." 

 Before she could say anything else, Levi engulfed his daughter in a very tight bear hug. He let a few tears slip as he ran his hand through his daughters hair. 

"I love you too...baby girl. Taking it as a chance, your other kids ran up to their dad. He sighed happily as he picked up Marco and hugged Christa, while Jean and Armin hugged his side and back. 

"And I love you, and you, and you too." He said planting a kiss on all five of his childrens' foreheads. He put Marco down as you walked up to him. 

"And love you especially." He said giving you a deep and passionate kiss. 

"Uh no. Take that somewhere else." Mikasa interrupted.

After that lovely family moment Mikasa walked out to the parking lot with you and Levi and the rest of the Ackerman bunch.

"You know, you don't have to stay here. You can come back home with us right now." Levi said releasing your hand to find the car keys. 

"Dad, you're five hours away. I'll be fine." 

"Are you sure? Positive"? 

"Yes dad, I'm positive. Besides, I have the teddy bear that you gave me." She exclaimed happily holding it up. Levi smiled as he pulled her in for another hug. 

"You don't have to go." He whispered. 

"Dad, I'll never leave you. I'm your baby girl remember"? 

"Yeah, whatever brat. Good luck and enjoy yourself alright? And don't bother bringing that piece of shit boyfriend over for Thanksgiving. Cause I'll kick his ass twice over and worse than this morning."  

"Alright dad. I'll see you and mom at Thanksgiving. I love you." 

"We love you too brat. Be safe."

This time you drove home. Levi was driving slower than molasses. You knew the reason why, it being  the fact that he was too stubborn to leave his daughter at college, and he was so overwhelmed with happiness that it drained the energy right out of him. Your two sets of twins were all knocked out sleep.

"One down, four more to go." You cheered. Levi glanced out the window as he gripped your hand.  

"You know...we could put those condoms to use." You said with a mischievous grin. Levi scoffed and turned towards you.

"You hid them"? 

"Oh hell yeah. And get this....they come in different flavors." 

You both shared a laugh before the silence settled back in. 

"I miss her already." Levi murmured. 

"Babe, it hasn't even been an hour yet." 
 
"I know...she didn't have to." 


He glanced again out the window, as the St. Sina's steeple moved further and further away.
