"Levi, do you mind telling me where we're going?" You asked walking up to speed with him. You leaned closer to him, eyebrows furrowed in concern. There was tension in the air as you neared the exit of the carnival.
"Somewhere private." He muttered quickly. The irritation was written all over his face. You fell back to your original spot, right beside Eren, who was unusually quiet. It made you nervous how all of their demeanors changed. Once being happy and laughing and shoving cotton candy in each other's faces to one of seriousness and attentive of their surroundings. Something dangerous was brewing, and Levi wasn't planning on telling you what it was either.
You watched your boyfriend from afar as he reached into his pocket and fished out his phone. He spoke lowly to a point where it frightened you. His shoulders tensed with uneasiness as he picked up his walking pace. You and the others practically had to jog just to keep up with him. Eld, Gunther and Auruo quickened their paces to match with Levi. The four of them huddled up together whispering low and occasionally glancing back at you and Eren, except Levi, who kept his visage ahead in front of them.
"Hey [Name] and Eren!" An otherwise cheerful voice surprised the both of you. Petra came jogging up from behind you two and join in the brisk walk.
"Hey Petra." You whispered lowly.
"Um Petra... if you don't mind me asking, where are we headed anyway." Eren asked. He was just as curious as you are and like you, kept in oblivion as to what was going on.
Unfortunately for Eren, Auruo overheard his question and quickly fell back to join you three.
"Stupid brat, don't ask questions....just...stay quiet." He mumbled.
"I've been keeping quiet for the longest and if I'm apart of this then I deserve to know what the hell is going on." Eren whispered back.
"I said quiet greenhorn!" Auruo hissed. His facial expression changed as he realized his careless mistake. Petra shot a nervous glance at you, hoping that you heard wrong...but you didn't.
"Green horn? What the- What the hell is going on here!?"
"[Name]...maybe we should-"
"No, I want an explanation. Like Eren just said, if I'm apart of this then I deserve to know."
"O-oh you uhh...you heard all of that?" Auruo sheepishly asked scratching his neck nervously.
You rolled eyes in annoyance and turned your attention to Levi. At this point the group stopped walking.
"Levi, please...tell me what's going on?" You walk up to him and slipped your hand into his. His jaw clenched and unclenched, unsure if sharing the disclosed information would ruin the chances of your survival or ensure it. His eyes locked on yours, opening his mouth to answer you.
"TITANS!"
It was as if time stopped. Everyone just stood in place as if they heard wrong. A single scream was enough to set the crowd into a frenzy and a dangerous race against time to get out of there. The war had begun.
